Peechi Dam
Peechi
dam and Wildlife Sanctuary is situated 23 km away from the Thrissur. The dam is built across the Manali River.
This is a beautiful picnic spot. The
colorful and beautiful tended botanical gardens as well as the
rippling fountains accentuate the beauty of the Place.
It
has boating facilities through the Reservoir. It is surrounded by tea and
eucalyptus. There are many occasions which can see the elephants and wild dogs
in the forest.
The
prime purpose of the reservoir is to provide Thrissur irrigation and drinking
water supply. There is a park information centre. The other main attraction of
the Peechi is a large variety of Orchids.
It
is one of the ideal spots to attract tourists with its vast catchment area,
botanical gardens and lush green forests.
